Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre

Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre is the largest indoor tennis centre in Wales, originally opened in 1990 and long established as one of the main hubs for tennis in North Wales. In January 2025 the centre reopened following a six-month closure for a £2.5 million transformation project, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Sport Wales and Wrexham County Borough Council. The renovation delivered seven indoor tennis courts, five outdoor tennis courts, three fully covered padel courts and four dedicated indoor pickleball courts, alongside a fully upgraded reception, changing rooms and café.

Pickleball was initially trialled on the centre's mini tennis courts and saw some of the fastest uptake the venue has ever experienced, with courts booking out consistently and a new community of players quickly forming. The centre has since hosted the Franklin Pickleball Event, a full weekend tournament featuring 27 courts and sponsors including Skechers and Franklin Sports, as well as the Welsh Pickleball Nationals, and will also host the Welsh Pickleball Open. Such has been the demand that one of the indoor tennis courts has since been repurposed to create two additional pickleball courts, bringing the total to four dedicated courts.

Pickleball coaching at the centre is led by Kim McCall. Group coaching sessions are available for all abilities, from junior and social sessions through to competitive game-based play, bookable via the centre website from as little as £5 per hour. Private lessons for individuals or small groups of up to four players are also available, tailored to technique, strategy or tactics with targeted drills and exercises, from £20 per hour. Kim also delivers pickleball sessions for schools, community groups and corporate teams at the centre, with all equipment provided and sessions suitable for all abilities. Court hire is £6.00 per hour at a fixed rate throughout the day. Paddle hire is available at £2.50 each, and Head Championship Indoor Pickleballs are available to purchase at £8.00 for a pack of three.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 - 22:00 and Saturday to Sunday 08:00 - 20:00.
