Drill Set Up

  • Requires 2 players, paddles, and a ball.
  • Player A starts at the baseline of the court.
  • Player B starts at the kitchen line of their side of the court.

How to run it

  1. Player B feeds Player A a weak, high ball that Player A can drive and attack.
  2. Once the feed is made, the point is live.
  3. Player A's objective is to drive and attack the ball to win the point.
  4. Player B's objective is to keep Player A in the back third, reset Player A's attack, and win the point.
  5. Continue for a few minutes, or until a certain score is reached, before switching roles.

Coaching Points

  • Player A should look to capitalize fully on the weak feed with a committed, aggressive drive.
  • Player B's priority is control on the reset - successfully neutralising the attack keeps Player A stuck at the back third for longer.
