Drill Set Up
Requires 2 players, a ball, and two paddles.
One player positions at the baseline.
The other player starts at one side of the kitchen (left or right).
How to run it
The player at the kitchen feeds the ball to the player anywhere along the baseline.
The baseline player moves along the line to reach the ball and focuses on hitting a drop shot back into the side of the kitchen where the feeding player is positioned.
Once the baseline player has made 10 successful drop shots into that side of the kitchen, the feeding player moves to the other side of the kitchen.
The drill repeats with the baseline player now hitting drop shots to the new side.
Coaching Points
Focus on movement along the baseline to get into position for each feed.
Prioritize control and accuracy over pace to consistently land the ball in the target side of the kitchen.
Use this drill to build confidence on both the backhand and forehand drop shot.
03 / VARIATIONS
Make it work for your group
Repeat on both sides of the kitchen (left and right) to ensure both baseline movement directions and both wings are trained evenly.
