Pickleball Meets
Pickleball Meets is an intermediate and above pickleball club based at Arena Sports Centre in Kettering, founded by a retired maths teacher who identified a gap for levelled, competitive social play after growing frustrated with ungrouped sessions elsewhere. The club was built around a simple principle: that players of a similar standard enjoy better games, develop faster and have more fun on court.
The club currently has around 35 active members ranging in age from 35 to 82, reflecting a genuinely diverse but ability-matched community. Rather than assigning formal DUPR-style ratings, the club operates on a practical standard, members are expected to be able to sustain rallies and engage in competitive play. The founder's background in mathematics has shaped the club's organisation, with a polling system used to manage attendance across sessions and ensure courts run smoothly and fairly for all players. Internal tournaments are held periodically, with places again managed through the voting system to keep numbers workable.
Sessions currently run across five courts at Arena Sports Centre, with Monday sessions providing a good entry point for prospective members, and Thursday sessions in high demand among the established membership. The club communicates through two WhatsApp groups: Pickleball Meet-Ups, used for polls, session announcements, tournament dates and coach visits, and Pickleball Clan, a more informal space for general chat and pickleball discussion.
Membership is by invitation and assessment rather than open sign-up, ensuring the standard and character of the group is maintained. Prospective members are invited to make contact and attend a Monday session to establish whether it is a good fit for both parties.
